America's Most Wanted Fugitives

Every year a list of the most wanted criminals in the United States is published by
the FBI containing names and information on the most dangerous fugitives and
terrorists free in society today. The FBI offers monetary rewards for any information
leading to the arrest of these criminals in an effort to obtain the publics help.

The TV show America's Most Wanted, hosted by John Walsh, premiered in
1988 to profile and assist law enforcement in the apprehension of fugitives,
including murder, rape, kidnapping, child molestation, white collar crimes,
organized crime, armed robbery, gang violence, and terrorists in addition to those
currently on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.

As of February 24, 2012, 1,175 people have been captured because of the show,
some of which were carried out in other countries.
The show does not broadcast
repeats in efforts to spread the word about as many fugitives as possible. Although,
updates on convicted criminals may be aired as well as repeating episodes when
a fugitive featured on the show has not yet been captured. Only then will their profile
be aired again in the hopes that the case will uncover renewed interest or reveal new information leading to an arrest. There are thousands of crimes that go unsolved each year. The best defense against crime in America is for you and your family to be diligent in reporting any information or suspicious behavior you witness to the proper authorities.
